Easy Peasy Dessert: Sweet Treats For Kids in a Flash

Kids love desserts. And there are times when parents do not know when their child will ask for a treat or crave for these sweets. Mothers can also be very busy. They juggle their time on their career, the household chores, and caring for the kids. These tend to consume all their time. And they think that preparing desserts for the kids and the family as well as an added task requiring too much time and effort. So they always end up buying sweets and ready to eat desserts to appease the kids’ cravings.

Easy desserts to impress

 Let us start with easy desserts with chocolates.

No-bake brownies with butter 

Preparation time: 15 minutes

 Ingredients:

  •  1 cup evaporated milk
  •  2 cups of sugar
  •  Â˝ cup of butter
  •  Âľ cup flour
  •  1 cup of chocolate chips
  •  1 cup graham cracker crumbs
  •  1 cup chopped walnuts

Instructions:

  1. Grease a 9” x 9” pan and set aside.
  2. In a deep saucepan, add milk, sugar, and butter. Bring to a boil over medium heat while stirring constantly. Once boiling, reduce heat to medium-low and cook for another 10 minutes while stirring occasionally. The mixture will foam and will rise in double that is why you need a deep saucepan.
  3. Add in the flour, chocolate chips, graham cracker crumbs, and walnuts. Stir until wee combined.
  4. Pour the mixture in a pan and let cool. 
  5. Cut into bars of desired sizes.

No-Bake Oreo Bars

Preparation time: 15 minutes 

Ingredients: (3 ingredient dessert)

  •  1 16-ounce package of Oreo
  •  5 cups large marshmallows
  •  4 tablespoons of butter

Instructions:

  1. Place Oreos in a food processor and pulse until ground. 
  2. Melt marshmallows and butter in the microwave for about 1 ½ minute.
  3. Pour the marshmallow mixture over the ground Oreo.
  4. Stir until well blended.
  5. Transfer the mixture in a foil-lined 8” x 8” baking pan. Allow sitting for 10 minutes.
  6. Remove out of the pan with the help of the edges of the foil.
  7. Cut into desired sizes and serve.

Peanut Butter Banana Cookie Bites

Preparation Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients:

  •  Â˝ cup peanut butter (be wary of peanut butter allergy)
  •  1 banana. Chopped
  •  1 ½ cups old fashioned oats
  •  â…” cup small grated coconut
  •  ÂĽ cup ground flax seeds
  •  Â˝ cup mini chocolate chips
  •  1 tablespoon sugar

Instructions:

  1. Put all ingredients in a bowl. Using a fork, mash and stir until well-combined. You can add more oats if the consistency is too sticky.
  2. Chill for 30 minutes.
  3. Remove from the fridge and make 1-inch size balls from the mixture.

Miniature cookies 

Preparation time: 16 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 ÂĽ all-purpose flour
  • ÂĽ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 8 tablespoons butter, softened
  • ÂĽ cup of sugar
  • ½ cup dark brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup mini chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F
  2. Line a baking sheet with wax paper.
  3. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, baking soda, and baking powder. Mix until well combined. Set aside.
  5.  In a mixer bowl, combine sugar, brown sugar, butter, eggs, and vanilla. Using the mixer, cream until smooth.
  6. Stir the flour mixture to the butter mixture until well-combined.
  7. Put the mini chocolate chips.
  8. Scoop about a ½ teaspoon of cookie dough and drop in the prepared baking sheet with wax paper. Shape into a ball. 
  9. Transfer the cookie balls on the prepared cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Put a 2-inch space between cookies.
  10. Baked for 5 to 6 minutes. The edges should be light brown while the middle should be soft.
  11. Remove from the oven and allow to cool on the baking sheet for two minutes. 

Chocolate truffles

Preparation time: 20 minutes plus chilling

An easy no-bake recipe with condensed milk.

Ingredients:

  •  3 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  •  1 can sweetened condensed milk
  •  1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  •  Coatings: chocolate sprinkles, espresso powder, Dutch-processed cocoa

 Instructions:

  1. Using a microwave, melt chocolate chips with milk. Stir until smooth. Add in vanilla. Refrigerate, covered until firm.
  2. Shape into 1-inch balls. Roll in coatings of your choice.

Three-Minute Fudge

Here’s a double 3! A super quick dessert you can prepare in 3 minutes using 3 ingredients!

Ingredients:

  •  14 ounces sweetened condensed milk 
  •  12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
  •  1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Grease a square pan and line with parchment paper. Set aside.
  2. Using a microwave-safe bowl, heat chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk on high for about a minute. Remove from microwave and let sit for a minute then stir to blend. If needed, you can heat for another 30 seconds. Mix until chips are completely melted and the chocolate is smooth. Add in the vanilla extract
  3. Pour fudge in the prepared pan. Let it cool. You can place it in the refrigerator for an hour. 
  4. Cut into the desired size of bars.

Classic Banana Pudding

Preparation time: 20 minutes (plus chilling)

Want a dessert recipe that you can do with kids? Here’s an easy one.

Ingredients:

  •  1 14-ounce can of sweetened condensed milk
  •  1 ½ cups of cold water
  •  1 4 serving package of instant French vanilla pie filling mix
  •  2 cups whipping cream
  •  40 vanilla wafers cookies (about)
  • 3 medium bananas, sliced and dipped in lemon juice
  • 4 vanilla wafers (crushed to crumbs) for garnishing

Instructions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine milk and water.
  2. Add pudding mix and beat with an electric mixer at medium speed for three minutes. Refrigerate for 15 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, whip heavy cream to form stiff peaks.
  4. Fold the whipped cream in the chilled pudding mixture until well-blended.
  5. In a large glass bowl, spread evenly the first half of the pudding mixture. Topped with â…“ of vanilla wafers, â…“ of the banana and 1/3 of the remaining pudding mixture.
  6. Continue layering, finishing with pudding on top.
  7. Sprinkle with crushed wafer crumbs. Chill for 4 hours before serving.
