When should you be concerned about cramps during pregnancy?

Pregnancy is an exciting time for many parents, but it can also come with its fair share of worries. One of the most common concerns that pregnant women have are pregnancy cramps.
It can be hard to tell if your cramps are normal or if they’re something more serious.
In this blog post, we’ll discuss when you should and shouldn’t be concerned about pregnancy cramps.

What are the Causes?

The uterus expands as your baby grows, causing cramping during pregnancy which is completely normal in most cases.

This type of cramping is usually mild and not a cause for concern; however, some people experience more severe pain or pain that lasts longer than usual.

If you have any concerns about your cramping, it’s always best to consult your doctor. In some cases, the cause of your cramps may be something more serious such as an ectopic pregnancy or preterm labor.

Ectopic pregnancies occur when the fertilized egg implants itself outside of the uterus and can be very dangerous if left untreated; symptoms include severe abdominal pain, nausea, and dizziness.

Preterm labor occurs when a woman goes into labor before her baby has fully developed; symptoms include backache, menstrual-like cramping, and regular contractions that don’t go away after rest or hydration.

If you experience any of these symptoms then call your doctor immediately for further advice on what to do next.
