Easy-To-Make Cupcake Recipes for Kids

Cupcakes are versatile snacks whether in a normal weekend bonding or in a glamorous birthday party. Nowadays, there are a lot of cupcakes with different designs and flavors. You can mix and match different ingredients to come up with a unique masterpiece. In this article, we’ll show you come cupcakes inspiration that you can let your kids taste. 

A. chocolate fudge cupcake

In just 30 minutes, your kids will enjoy a mouthwatering dessert that can be enjoyed with their favorite drinks. It would depend on your taste if you prefer darker chocolate or white chocolate.

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup butter
  • 500g plain chocolate; separated into half
  • 200g light brown sugar
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 250g all-purpose flour
  • Sweets and sprinkles for decoration
  • 150ml double cream
  • 60g icing sugar

Direction:

Step 1: Heat the oven for about 140 degrees celsius. In a large saucepan, melt the chocolate, sugar, butter, and water. Make sure to stir occasionally to avoid burning. Set aside to cool after mixing.

Step 2: After the chocolate mixture has cooled down, add the beaten eggs and vanilla then slowly add the flour while mixing until it is smooth. Fill in the holes in the baking tray into half to give it space for the dough to rise. Bake it for around 20-25 minutes.

Step 3: For the icing, melt the chocolate in low-medium heat, make sure to remove it immediately from the heat to avoid it from burning. Combine the double cream as well the icing sugar into the chocolate mixture. Top the cupcakes into this mixture together with sprinkles and sweets.

B. unicorn cupcakes

This is a colorful snack with a rainbow pattern buttercream with a sweet sprinkle decoration. Your kid’s party will surely be memorable with these unicorn cupcakes that are just easy to prepare.

Ingredients:

  • 100g white caster sugar
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • 150g melted butter
  • 200g self-raising flour
  • 4tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 200g butter (for the buttercream)
  • 350g icing sugar
  • 4 tbsp milk
  • Food coloring (blue, green and blue)
  • Sweets and sprinkles for decoration

Direction:

Step 1: Preheat the oven for at least 160 degrees celsius. Prepare the baking tray by lining the cupcake hole trays with muffin cases. Mix the cake ingredients such as eggs, sugar, butter, and flour in a bowl using an electric beater to ensure that there will be no lumps and has an equal consistency.

Step 2: Divide the cake mixture into the baking tray holes and bake it for about 25 minutes or until the cake is fully cooked. Let it cool and set aside. 

Step 3: To do the filling, mix the vanilla extract and maple syrup together with water. Using a cocktail stick, poke a hole into the cupcakes and drizzle a mixture into it.

Step 4: Mix the icing sugar, butter, and vanilla. Divide the mixture into two, the other half will be divided into 3 parts where you will add the three food coloring in each mixture. Start decorating the cupcakes through the sprinkle and colored mixture turning it into a unicorn cupcake.

C. vanilla cupcakes

This is made from a buttercream mixture that is easy to make but gives a magnificent simple flavor that can be a good base to any toppings that you preferred. It’s considered as one of the classic flavors you can find online that will never get old when it comes to flavor and consistency.

Ingredients:

  • 300g butter (for the mixture and the icing)
  • 120g caster sugar
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 130g self-raising flour
  • 270g icing sugar
  • 3 tbsp milk
  • Food coloring (optional)

Direction:

Step 1: Heat the oven at least 160 degrees celsius while filling in the holes of the baking tray with paper cases. Mix in the bowl the eggs, butter, sugar and vanilla extract. Slowly incorporate the flour while also adding the milk. 

Step 2: Fill the baking tray holes up to three-quarters full to give the mixture space to rise in. You may check if the cupcakes are cooked by poking a toothpick into the middle of the cakes if you still see traces of the mixture that stick with the toothpick, it means that it is not yet ready but when the toothpick is clean when removed then it is already cooked.

Step 3: Bake it for about 15 minutes. In making the icing, beat the butter together with the icing sugar until the consistency becomes soft. Place the mixture into a piping bag and place the icing in a swirl motion.

D. vegan cupcakes with banana & peanut butter

This is a healthy cupcake suitable for moms that introduces their kids to being vegan. This recipe features an egg-free mayonnaise and dairy-free bake cupcakes but will still give you a delicious and fun recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 250g self-raising flour
  • 150g golden caster sugar
  • 1 tsp of baking soda
  • 250g egg-free mayonnaise
  • 3 medium-sized ripe bananas (mashed)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 30g vegan dark chocolate chip

For the icing

  • 100g vegan margarine
  • 250g icing sugar
  • 35ml vegan milk or almond milk
  • 3 tbsp smooth peanut butter

Direction:

Step 1: Line the baking tray holes with paper cases while preheating the oven for about 150 degrees celsius. Combine dry ingredients such as baking soda, flour, sugar, and salt. Using a different bowl, mix the mayonnaise, vanilla extract, and the mashed banana. Slowly mix the wet mixture into the dry ingredients.

Step 2: Before filling in the baking tray holes, make sure that the mixture has a smooth consistency and that it is free from any lumps. Fill in the tray holes with the mixture, make sure to leave a sufficient space just enough for the mixture to rise. 

Step 3: For the icing, combine the icing sugar together with the electric mixer. Slowly add the vegan milk and continue to whisk it before adding the peanut butter. Place the mixture into the pipe tube and spread it on top of the cupcakes. You may sprinkle it with any toppings you prefer like chocolate chips and candies.
